Application Process

Added: March 21st 2008 - Updated: November 4th 2008

How to begin the application process

1. Meet with an Employment Assistance Service Provider in your area.

2. Attend an Orientation Session.

Contact Renfrew County Community Futures Development Corporation (RCCFDC) to arrange to attend an orientation session. During this session you will discuss the SEB Program, the conditions and restrictions of the program and the application process.

You will then receive the SEB applications to take home and fill out.

3. Complete the application form and return it to RCCFDC.

The Small Business Consultant will review the application form to determine if the business concept complies with the SEB program guidelines, and has the potential to provide long term employment.

The Small Business Consultant will then contact the applicant to advise whether or not self employment is a viable option to pursue.

4. Prepare a Business Plan and Cash Flow Statement.

A business plan is a summary of a business idea. It explains the products and services, customers, competitors, management, marketing plan, etc.

The cash flow statement is a projection of the cash receipts and cash disbursements for each month during the first year of business. A sample cash flow statement can be downloaded HERE. The staff at RCCFDC can coach you through the business plan and everyone has access to our business library located in our office. A list of online resources is available by choosing Resources and Links under Business Development Services.

5. Contact the small business consultant to present your business plan.
