Toronto- Visitors to the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair in Toronto - November 7 to 16 - had the opportunity to awaken their senses or boost their immune systems with 100% certified organic herbal teas from Renfrew County's own Algonquin Tea Company.
Using ingredients cultivated and wild-crafted in the Ottawa Valley, Algonquin Tea owners Kim Elkington and Steven Martyn offer six varieties of herbal teas that are pleasing to any tea-drinker. Over the last 10 years, Algonquin Tea has introduced eight new native plant species to the commercial herbal tea industry and sold more than one million cups of tea to its growing numbers of conscious consumers.
Ms. Elkington and Mr. Martyn were pleased to be part of this project representing Renfrew County in the 3000 square foot Eastern Ontario Pavilion at the Royal 2008. With a recent decision to focus on expanding online sales and exporting, as well as future plans to increase and diversify their product offerings, they said this was a key time for Algonquin Tea to be attending this spectacular event.
"The possibilities are endless, every kind of person imaginable goes to the Roayal because it's such a wonderful place to be." Ms. Elkington said.
Selling out of their "Sacred Blend" tea in the first two days at the Royal, Algonquin Tea is enjoying steady business from new and old customers who were excited to see them at the fair.
With the support from FedNor/Industry Canada and the province, the 15 Community Futures Development Corporations (CFDCs) from across Eastern Ontario sponsored this project and created a fun and exciting atmosphere for visitors of all ages. |
