Forestry and Lumber Plan

The project involved the development of a Five Year Economic Development Master Plan to guide the County of Renfrew and it’s communities in their economic, business and community development in matters related to the softwood lumber sector. Larry Polk of C.L. Polk Forestry Consulting Ltd was hired to conduct the study.

The study reviewed and incorporated the relevant data and recommendations of previous economic and business development studies and produced a report and strategies for the County of Renfrew for the next five years.

The softwood forestry and secondary wood processing industries are a specific focus area because of their critical importance to the County’s economy and the severe hardships imposed on the sector by the United States Softwood Lumber Tariff.
