The Purpose of the Innovation & Information Communication Technology  Program (ICT)

The goal of the ICT program is to ensure that community organizations and businesses can access and better utilize information and communication technologies which will lead to increased participation in the knowledge based economy.

 

Eligible Recipients (must be located and conducting activities in Renfrew County)

 

  • Non-profit organizations;
  • Municipalities and municipal organizations;
  • Community development organizations;
  • Associations;
  • Legal commercial entities including individuals, corporations, partnerships, cooperatives or trusts;
  • Aboriginal organizations

 Eligible Activities 

  • Innovation and technology research and development initiatives;
  • Technology, ICT and Knowledge Base Economy studies and plans;
  • Technological enhancement initiatives, such as advanced innovative web enhancements, e-commerce, GIS applications, customized software development and installations which will improve efficiencies and productivity;
  • ICT infrastructure projects, including broadband and internet access; 
  •  Applications in ICT, which may include: development of networks, ICT education and awareness, conferences and workshops;
  • Other incremental activities designed to stimulate business opportunities in the knowledge based economy.

 

Eligible Costs

  • Consultant and/or professional fees;
  • Materials and supplies;
  • Equipment and software;
  • Installation expenses;
  • Infrastructure costs;
  • Other related costs;
  • Eligible expenses are costs before PST and GST.

 

RCCFDC may contribute a maximum of $2,500 for website developments.

RCCFDC may contribute a maximum of $5,000 for equipment purchases.

RCCFDC may contribute 50% of total project costs for non-profit organizations to a maximum of $10,000 per organization.

RCCFDC may contribute 50% of total project costs for private sector businesses to a maximum of $10,000 per organization.  

 

 Funding Criteria

 

  • All funds must be expended and the project completed by February 1, 2011.

  

Application Process

 

Applications must be submitted to Renfrew County Community Futures Development Corporation by Tuesday, June 30, 2009 at 4:00 p.m.  Applications must follow the format of the application form.  Applications submitted after the deadline date are not eligible.

 

Applicants may discuss a potential project with Dana Jennings, Project Coordinator, Renfrew County Community Futures Development Corporation at 613.735.3951 ext. 226 prior to completing an application to ensure it fits the criteria and/or to examine opportunities to partner with other organizations/potential applicants.

 

Please note: The Application Review Committee will only consider complete applications.

 

Approval Process

 

Receipt of an application by RCCFDC does not indicate a commitment for funding.  Projects will be reviewed by the Special Funding Committee of the Renfrew County Community Futures Development Corporation.    

 

Evaluation Criteria

 

The Application Review Committee will use the following criteria to evaluate the applications for the ICT component.

 

Does the proposed initiative/application :

§         Enhance the business/organization’s communications?

§         Contribute to the overall strength of the workforce in Renfrew County?

§         Support the development of new skills in the community?

§         Demonstrate that is has access to the appropriate resources to undertake the project?

§         Ensure that any service provider, consultant or training institution hired has the appropriate qualifications?

§         Present a budget that is reasonable or feasible?

§         Indicate that the expenses meet the eligibility criteria?
