County to host second Taste of the Valley

County to host second “Taste of the Valley”

The County of Renfrew, in partnership with Renfrew County Community Futures Development Corporation, Valley Heritage Radio, Heritage Canada and the Cobden Agricultural Society, are looking for vendors to showcase their local products!

The second annual “Taste of the Valley” will be held on Saturday, October 18 from 10 am to 4 pm at the Cobden Fairgrounds.

Admission is free, and vendors will be handing out free samples as well as selling their made in Renfrew County products.

In 2007, over 2,000 visitors had a chance to sample free food at the event, and the organizers are expecting even a better turnout this year.

According to events spokesman Bruce McIntyre, this event grew out of the strong campaign to encourage local residents to buy local and sup port the local economy.

“The County of Renfrew has so many great local agri-businesses that make some of the finest products in the world.

“When our residents buy local, they are not only supporting our local businesses, but they are also investing in our local economy and a natural spin-off of this ideal is to help maintain and create jobs,” he said.

For more information, or to inquire about setting up a display, please contact McIntyre at 613-735-7288, or Ann Barr of the Cobden Agricultural Society at 613-646-2426.
